Mission Statement

Poeta Negra Records originated as a label in the 90s in Thessaloniki, Greece, where it is still based. Up until the year 1999, the label made its mark through a series of sporadic and selective releases. Throughout the 90s, the label captured the interest and respect of a local and musically agile audience via its sparse releases. It reappeared in the year 2000 with the prospect of a more stable, organized and dynamic presence.

In the beginning of the new century, Poeta Negra Records aims to detect the latest trends of musical evolution in terms of form and function within the boundaries of electronic and, in a broader sense, contemporary music, where sound and form accompany the new realities of a continually evolving urban environment.

In Poeta Negra Records, we face music with a spherical perception, a liberated spirit and an exploratory attitude. Our aim is to publish music from diverse musical genres; our criterion for doing so is the artist's honesty and quality, both reflected in his work, in addition to convincing us that he has his own unique personality and that he truly has something to say.

We believe that music is a constant narration, whose forms change and evolve continuously, without neglecting the case of recycled or hybridized musics. We do not wish to be classified under a specific tag but rather become a part of the current musical evolution. As music listeners and publishers, we carry on the traditions of past and present genres, but our primary concern is the attempt of portraying a contemporary image of a wider musical and social reality.

We guarantee that all demos will be taken in consideration but unfortunately we cannot guarantee we will be able to reply to all. We receive many demos frequently and as a result, we do not have much time for analytical replies and feedback. If you don't hear from us, please don't get disappointed.
